A New Sustainable Home Goods Shop Just Launched Online
A new sustainable home goods shop has arrived, making its grand debut ahead of Earth Day earlier this week. Shades of Green, a platform dedicated to more sustainable consumerism, launched its online store with a curated selection of environmentally-conscious homeware, kitchenware, and outdoor products. From hand-blown recycled glass tumblers to alpaca wool throw blankets, prices range between $17.50 and $398.
The shop also has a user-friendly sustainability evaluation system that evaluates each product on a one to five scale, differentiated by various shades of green. A product with a one criteria in a light shade of green signals that it scores high in one of the brand’s sustainability evaluation criteria, while a product with a five criteria in a darker shade of green signals that it meets all of the criteria in terms of sourcing, manufacturing, shipping, and more.
In the kitchenware section, products include a rustic cutting board made from recycled and discarded wood ($140), an earthy green handcrafted two-tone rectangular tray ($94), a white enamel cast iron skillet ($95) made from 40 percent recycled cast iron, and whimsical bubble drinking glasses ($132.80) handcrafted from recycled glass — all of which ranging between a three to five scale.
