Every piece made by Jars is sustainably produced using the rich clays of southern France. Their expert craftsmen hand-make each piece, unique in form and color. Water used in production is continually recycled for future use. Heat used to fire the pieces also warms the studios and workshops. Glazes are made from natural minerals of the region. Every step of production is done with sustainability in mind along with 150 years of stoneware tradition. Awarded the French Entreprise de Patrimoine Vivant label, recognizing their ancestral know-how in crafts and industry, Jars Ceramistes (and Jars USA) are committed to exquisite quality and practical function along with centuries-long support of their region and the planet. Made by hand in Southern France, Jars produces their stoneware with lead-free clay and cadmium-free glazes. The clay is sourced locally, there is minimal manufacture with each piece made by hand. The energy used to fire the stoneware is recycled back to the studios and workshops for heating. Water used in the stoneware production is recycled back for future use. Each step of their sourcing and production is carefully considered and sustainably minded. At their end of dining use, the pieces of Jars can be broken down to integrate with the soil and compost, so the clay goes back to where it came from. Jars ceramics are durable, dishwasher and microwave safe.
