Alpaca is a great alternative to wool, and is considered one of the world’s most valuable natural fibers. It's hypoallergenic, smooth as silk, has moisture wicking properties and a naturally insulating core. Throws are made from the alpaca of the Peruvian Andes. The alpaca is hand gathered, sorted, and hand-cleaned by local family artisans. The fibers, stronger than wool, are then sent for spinning and weaving, according to design and colors. The blends of some fibers are based on performance required, and repurposed yarns do get made from waste trimmings and felted fibers.
