Sien & Co. partnered up with Sunbrella to make this sustainably-made, long-lasting outdoor pillow. Alex Gibson and Sien & Co works with 12 different communities throughout Argentina to produce the textile covers they produce where the shearers live. They use outdoor looms in their backyards. They maximize their production process to minimize the waste from each piece. They pay fair wage to both men and women in the weaving communities. No treatments or finishes are added to the pieces. The only chemical dye is the color black to add to its saturation. They buy unused shipping space on DHL flights to ship pieces to the United States, minimizing shipping carbon as they can. For their outdoor textiles they have partnered with Sunbrella to blend Sunbrella fiber with their natural yarns. Waste trimmings are sent back to Sunbrella to spin into other pieces. The Sunbrella fibers are 100% solution-dyed acrylic fibers that can be repurposed after use into new fiber.
